What is stereo?

There are now two system of high fidelity, monophonic (monaural) and stereophonic. Monophonic is a system that starts from one microphone and is fed through a single high fidelity set. Stereophonic is a double system. Two separate microphones are placed at different sides of the orchestra and two different systems are used to keep the two signals or channels separated. Two separate speakers are used, placed on different sides of you room. Stereo is much like 3-D photography, two slightly different sound reach your ears giving you a new dimension in sound.

Dual CS 505-1

 Dual CS 505-1
U.L.M. Tonearm, Vario-belt drive Semi-automatic.
 U.L.M. Tonearm and Gimbal Suspension.
The four-point gyroscopic gimbal, with mass-free vertical tracking force, is featured in the CS 505-1 as well as in the higher prieced Dual turntables. Thus, the CS 505-1 has the same gyroscopic bearing principle as the navigation instruments used in areonautical engineering. The advantages absolutely minimum bearing friction, no change in tracking forces and uniformly excellent tracking properties under all operating conditions. Even in the case of warped records or when the turntable is not quiter precisely horizontal. This is the highest precision bearing technology typical of Dual quality.
The U.L.M. Tonearm. Less than half the effective mass of convencional high-quality tonearms. Clearly lower harmonic distortion and audibly better tracking even with warped records.
The special XM 300 alloy. High strength and outstanding internal damping. No flexural resonance from 60 to 80 Hz, no torsional resonance from 300 to 400 Hz. Better stereo separation.
The tonearm suspension. Four-point gimbal. Only 0,07mN bearing friction and mass-independent tracking force. Perfect balance in all planes of motion.
U.L.M. Cartridge. Ortofoon TKS 52 E with elliptical stylus. (Optional and extra).
Dual belt drive. High reliability and long maintanance-free operation thanks to automatic speed pre-selection and the flat belt precision ground to 2/100 mm.
Pitch control. Fine speed control by means of the vario-pulley with a 6% control range.
Full size platter with damping soft rim mat.
Two-scale anti-skating control with long precision spring. Specially calibrated to the low friction bearing of the U.L.M. Tonearms.
Pilot lift. A unique safety feature that automatically engages the cue control when the tonearm is lifted from its rest post and moved toward the record. The tonearm then remains suspended over the record until released by the cue control to begin play.
Automatic stop. This raises the tonearm at the end of a record and switches off the motor.
Automatic cover tild-hold with continuously variable tension.
